Hi, I'm Rob Alexander. Young dad, married, two houses, two cars and
two dogs. Yep, I'm just a normal guy who's doing alright I guess for 30
years of age. You'd probably have trouble understanding though that
just four years ago I was heavily depressed due to yet another failed
sales job (in a long line of failed sales jobs!).
I remember walking out of there thinking that that was the last time
anyone would ever consider hiring me and that without any
qualifications, I was no better than someone on welfare. Making an
income to pay the bills was now a frightening prospect as i'd racked up
a huge amount of personal debt over the previous seven years since
leaving college. It's funny isn't it how sometimes when you earn more,
you spend more? Doing a labouring job (the only thing I could find)
was going to help to pay the bills but for every day that went by, I
needed to earn at least an extra day's pay just to make ends meet. So
at the end of each month, I still needed another month's pay to make up
for what i'd lost by not being paid enough!! Basically my 'dream
career' of being a successful salesperson was over...
When I couldn't keep the meaningless laboring job that i'd found, the
only person who would hire me (because of my level of belief in myself
at the time) was my Dad. My depression and my 'story' about how bad my
life was got so terrible that my fiancee had to drag me out of bed in
the morning to go and pull weeds out of the ground by hand on my Dad's
farm. That was for just $10 per hour (and BEFORE tax too!). Day after
day, in the hot sun, cold winds or drenching rain, I had to pull out
weeds by hand so that the beef cattle on his farm didn't eat them.
Trust me, they didn't have a personality either! No wonder, I surely
can't have been much fun at the time! I didn't own a car and had to
use my fiancee's tiny little old toyota to get to work, we had TENS OF
THOUSANDS of dollars in bad debts and were renting a house that we
could barely afford.
Life was such an embarrassment and was so depressing that I remember
crying one day when my raincoat pocket leaked and saturated my cell
phone, only to find that my Dad had accidentally padlocked the farm
gate when he left that morning, leaving me to have to wait for hours
into the early evening with no food until someone came to see where I
was.
Maybe you might have had a similar experience but haven't really hit
the big time yet? Your time will come. I know it will because when I
was miserable and pulling out weeds, at the lowest part of my career,
success and respect in sales seemed almost impossible. Yet with the
knowledge i've gained, it happened.
Fast forward four short years...

Wow, how times have changed! To give you an idea of just how much that
change has been - my sales income from my job in the 2009/2010
financial year was $263,000.00!
But more importantly, i'm happy, have more time to spend with my little
